Volume 25: But is YOUR hair growing?

Hey hey! I think it is best to make a few points about what should be happening under your sew in/install. Simply put, your hair should be growing ladies. This is the responsibility of both the client and the stylist. Lets discuss…:

On the client side: You need to be treating the sew in/install like it is your hair. Which means washing it on the regular basis and getting as much accumulated dirt out. Also try your very best to not apply so much heat to your leave out. That is a generally rule of thumb at any point.

On the stylist side: When it is time to be taken out, make sure you have someone who can carefully dicipher whats your hair and whats the thread. That right there, is one of the leading causes to hair loss believe it or nah – 😛 Tragic. Also, make sure that the hair is being cleaned thoroughly in between installs. It is essential to have your stylist trim those ends so that when your hair is growing, it is growing with a purpose and not to be chopped off when you decide to take it out.

Love you guys – its been a loooong day – Sheesh.

Volume 24: Let Em’ Go Sis!

So, I’ve had more than a few conversations about clipped ends and to this I will say, ‘Let it Happen!’ I know, I know it hurts to see your length fall to the floor but it should hurt that much more to tip around with shabby ends so that your hair will appear longer. Once upon a time, I was that girl and it’s not a good look. You’d be surprsied at how healthy your hair will look and feel post cut. Healthy trimmed ends also promote growth.

Sidebar: If you detect a scissor happy stylist, Check Her! and find you someone who will only cut what’s damaged – hint hint 🙂

Volume 22: Summer ‘Do Blues?

Hey! Getting back into the swing of things. I took off last week because it was our birthday and it was fabulous. Moving Forward!–Summer weather is (slowly) apprpoaching which means POOF! to your edges or does it? Let’s explore some options:

Go Protective – maintaining your hair in the heat can be a drag but braids, twists, etc/ can provide easy, get up and go moments where you don’t have to worry about constantly keeping your hair straight. This is especially a good option if you like to swim during the summer. If you’re natural – let it ride (Lucky!).

Reduce Heat – this should always be a practice but in the summer -it gets real. If you sweat out your edges don’t fall into the heat slump (straightening your hair everyday) or come Fall, you won’t have any. I definitely have to remember this one myself. Remember Vol. 12 – Bad Hair Day?…, explore those options when necessary.

We can take this journey together 🙂
