Volume 42: Jet Life

Jet black that is! Hey yall hey, this week’s post is all about new hair. My jet beauty of the week is my Moni (my twin sissy for those staring in confusion 😛 ). She is rocking her new fall look styled by yours truly. While I was shadowing stylist, Toni Fairely, she gave me a few tips for hair installation that I implemented on Moni’s style. It paid off beautifully: long, sleek, dyed black, blunt cut sew in with razored layers. She is very particular, which is something I appreciate. Have a beautiful week ladies & gentlemen. Get on my line with your hair desires.

Peace!

MANELY LOVE MONDAY! Oct. 13, 2014

Volume 40: 100

Hey! Today I would like to thank everyone who helped the Manely Love fan page reach its first stage target of 100 likes. This number is truly significant to me and my effort toward my Manely Love dreams. I learned many, many things from my entrepreneur based education and one of them is BUZZ. The people have to know who you are – exposure is uber important. Social media is a great way to create that buzz around yourself – no qualms about it.

With regard to money and self-career goals, I often hear that ‘The first millon is always the hardest.’ Aside from the beautiful tone of prosperity in that statement, that is how I feel about creating the buzz around my business. The first 100 was the hardest and now we can move forward!

I love you all. This puts me in mind of my favorite song lyrics by Big Krit, “There’s a lot of people around me that believe in me
And I depend on them to see me through this – this life of mine.” All of my love and appreciation is an understatement…

Peace!

Please continue to spread the word and support! Send all appointment inquiries my way. I am here to make you more beautiful than you already are. 🙂

MANELY LOVE MONDAY! Oct. 6, 2014

I be at work like...

I be at work like…

Volume 39: Really? Me? Unprofessional?

Hey Hey! I’m surprised that I haven’t thought to discuss this sooner (Thanks Ness! 🙂 ) As a hair stylist, I am prone to change my hair quite a bit. I can go from short, to long, to braids, to scarfs, to big like Diana Ross, the list goes on. But I wonder how those changes would translate if I were in a more corporate setting. Would I be allowed to flourish? Would my braids get the side eye? I have been blessed to work in an environment that fosters diversity and inclusion – you can be 100%, unapologetically youself. This brings me to the topic of hair in the workplace.

The reality is that there are situations where black woman have to use major discretion with their hair choices because of their work environment. That aint no way to live. Big hair, curly natural hair, braids, etc. are still considered to be unprofessional in certain places. Yea, you read it right – hair in its NATURAL state is unwelcomed. To those women who have to bite the bullet – I love you. Those coins can be worth not indulging. Money talks very fluently to me. To those women who choose to rock their individual styles despite talks of “unprofessional” – I love you. You only get one life and you deserve to be yourself while at it.

Not only a couple weeks ago, People magazine made a comment about Queen Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington, Scandal), “Olivia’s back to straight hair so you KNOW she means business.” As if one’s hair actually dictates their level of ability or professionalism. India Arie said it best, “I am not my hair”. I’d like to modify that statement, “I am not only my hair” because with each style you see just how fabulous I am- WHILE conducting the business of the day – make no mistake about it baby. Be Free!

If you need some assistance – ya girl is here to take you there! Message me to set up an appointment.

Peace!
