Volume 45: A Change of Sarah

Hey – I caught you! Happy Monday y’all…well I hope that it has been. My week has had an interesting start but this peace is real anyhow 🙂 . Today’s post is about my recent transformation. I have hit that holy 15 week point of my perm regime so my edges are laid once again. I stay under the ‘permed AND healthy’ act. My big curly ‘do is behind me (for the moment) and sleek tresses are upon us. I missed straight hair! I changed the direction of my bang too — did you notice? 😛

That is all I have for now – until next time. I am available for appointments this week: Tuesday 6:30p; Friday 2:00-6:00p and Saturday 12p.

Peace!

Volume 44: How to be Diana

Hey! Let’s dive right in. I’ve been receiving loads of compliments on my current hair style (Thank you!) and I figured it best to give some insight on this rather easy ‘do. As mentioned many times before, since I am on this new perm regime and I can’t wear my hair straight for 15 weeks, this is my fave protective style. Anywho, I finally got my hands on some KeraCare so I have been using this product in tandem with Organix Beauty Pure and Simple. I’ve been deep conditioning for the past 2 wash cycles – leaving both conditioners in for 30 to 45 minutes under a plastic cap. After rinsing, I spray my hair with the Silken Seal Liquid Sheen before and after blow drying. For the actual style you’ll need:

Flat iron
Small size hair wand
A million flexi-rods (for upkeep)

Since my roots are OC (translated: Out of Control), I must run the flat iron once, just once, over the piece of hair to be wanded to straighten my roots a bit. The wand’s temperature is extremely hot so it does the majority of the straightening. Take the semi-flat ironed piece, wrap her around the wand and hold for 10 seconds. This is done throughout the entire head, a 2 hour job. Pop in a good movie or find some good TV and you’re golden. *Note* I do add hair clips during this process.

The flexi rods are for upkeep so that I don’t have to apply heat every day to achieve the look. I put in around 30+ rods each night (Commitment). Larger rods (gray) for the bottom section, medium size (orange) for the middle and smaller sized (blue/green) rods for the front and crown. I look like somebody’s grandma at night (your bed mates will deal 😛 ) and Voila! A mini Diana Ross in the morning. The included images were captured right after removing the rods. Your hair will progressively grow larger throughout the day. *Kanye shrug* We can all be Diana Ross.

Consider this to be my before pic – because I am perming her next week BAY-BEE. I’ll be sure to report back. My new growth is golden.

I am available for appointments this week beginning at 6:30p Wed. -Thurs.; 9:30a Sat. and 3:00p Sun.

Peace!

MANELY LOVE MONDAY! NOV. 10, 2014

The face of determination.

The face of determination.

Volume 43: Plot Twist!

Hey! I missed you all last week. I had to take some time to celebrate my significant other. 😛  But I’m back in full effect. So with about 2 months left in 2014, I have been thinking about 2015 and my plan to attend cosmetology school. As mentioned many times before, I have known who I want to be since I was 10 yrs. old and I created a plan to boot: step 1: Business/Entrepreneur degree from a 4 year university by June 2013; step 2: Attend Paul Mitchell full time by Fall 2013; and so forth. That was my plan and I was sticking to it! But alas, life peeked her pretty head in and whispered quietly, “No sis”. While preparing, I realized that I’d have to pay for my beauty education mostly out of pocket and I needed more time to prepare. I had to let go off a plan that I’d had set for years. I almost felt like I had let myself down…I was a sad case. My mom calmed me down – as only mothers can – and explained that this was a sign. She let me know that it was OK to enjoy the accomplishment of being a college graduate for a second. Take some time to relax my mind, go to work and go home (once I start school again my 9-5 day will turn into a 9-10) and save money for school while continuing to build my clientele. I was so focused on the next thing that I wasn’t taking the time to pat myself on the back and acknowledge that I finished step 1! I was graduating with my business degree from a great 4 year university.

Back to 2015 – I plan to be enrolled in cosmetology school come Fall 2015. I am oh so anxious to get that ball rolling so that I can learn more and perfect my craft. My heart has been set on Paul Mitchell since I was at least 15 but I’m finding that Tricoci University of Beauty Culture is another great option. The journey continues…I am accepting all prayers and good energy and I’ll be throwing it right back 🙂 . Stay focused good people – we’ll all make it to our individual destinations in due time. Life is not a race. Remember: you make plans semi-loosely so that when life happens you are able to readjust and move forward accordingly. ‘Supposed to’ is a myth because life happens every day.

I am available for appointments this week beginning at 6:30p Tues.-Thurs.; 9:30a Sat. and 3:00p Sun.

Peace!
